The Seventh Annual Figure Skating Spectacular!
Peace and Love on Ice
The Show is Over, and the Memories Will Last Forever
This year our show was choreographed by Lori Benton, a former World Professional Figure Skating Champion and double gold medalist in figures and freestyle. Lori became a professional skater after she finished college and has starred in many shows to include Ice Capades, Holiday on Ice, and Broadway on Ice. She has been recognized for being one of the few women to perform a back flip on ice. Lori has directed, staged, and choreographed numerous shows throughout the United States that have featured Olympic and other world renowned skaters. Lori’s passion for coaching and skating has given her the desire to help skaters of all ages reach their goals and dreams. In addition to choreographing our show, Lori taught special clinics for skaters from the Basic Skills level up through the advanced levels.
Starring in our show was Olympic Bronze Medalist Jozef Sabovcik and two time U.S. Figure Skating Pairs Champions Rena Inoue and John Baldwin. Special guest skaters Lisa Moore and Justin Gaumond, the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Midwestern Sectional Bronze Medalists, will also join the show, along with a number of amateur skaters from the Klamath Basin, San Francisco Bay Area, and the Southern Oregon Figure Skating Club.
Lisa Moore and Justin Gaumond have been skating pairs together for four years. In November 2008 they placed 3rd at the Midwestern Sectional Championships, which qualifies them to compete at the U.S. Figure skating Championships in Cleveland, Ohio, later this month. Lisa and Justin have passed their senior freeskate and pairs test (gold level), which is the highest level one can achieve in U.S. Figure Skating. Lisa is 18 and is from Fort Collins, Colorado. She is a freshman at the University of Denver. In addition to skating she enjoys drawing and playing percussion. Justin is 23 and is from Littleton, Colorado. He graduated from DU in 2007 with a degree in theatre. In his spare time Justin plays recreational hockey, works, and loves going to rock concerts.
